Microsoft’s Cortana to be added in Outlook for iOS and Android
Microsoft, the biggest tech company has made a great
announcement that it has been gradually bringing more email intelligence to its
virtual assistant, Cortana. However, the company is denying integrating the
same straight into the Outlook mobile, which may change in the coming time. It
has also been revealed from the sources that the company is currently testing
Cortana within Outlook on two main platforms, i.e. Android and iOS.
The integration of Microsoft’s digital assistants will give
the users of this popular mobile email client, complete freedom to listen and
respond to the emails with their voice. This functionality will be mainly
useful while travelling and even while the users are having lunch. Microsoft is
currently testing integration of Cortana directly into the Outlook mobile that
will go well over reading messages aloud and Bluetooth.
Users of Outlook will also be able to ask Cortana direct
phrases such as “Did I receive any email from a particular sender” or “Read the
email from John”, etc. The integration of this digital assistant, Cortana is in
an internally integration face and if the feedback is positive then this adding
of this virtual assistant will make its way to beta and public releases of
Outlook for these two platforms.
This news of integration of Cortana in Outlook arrived few
days after the Microsoft’s Outlook for iOS and Android boss transitioned to
overseeing the Cortana virtual assistant. Javier Soltero, who joined this
biggest tech giant when it acquired the renowned email application, Acompli
will now submit the reports to the Microsoft’s head of Artificial Intelligence
and Research, Harry Shum.
